DESCRIPTION: Majestic volcano, towering over the City of Arequipa. The area is of volcanic origin, with crests of stratified lava reaching down the sides of the volcano Misti. It displays fumarolic activity, with the occasional emission of steam and gases. Your participation on this trip requires good physical condition and sufficient acclimatization to the altitude.
WAYS:
Various routes lead to the summit. We recommend mainly:

• Nortern route past Aguada Blanca, this is the easiest one, reached within 3 hours by Jeep and it drops hikers at approximately 4,000 m. It is approximately a 4 hour hike to the camp, near 4,750 m. The next morning the summit can be reached in about 5-6 hours. It is approximately a 1 hour descent to camp and an additional ½ hour to the Jeep.

• Southern Route, Route Zárate, accessible by 4×4 Jeep and within 1 hour to base at 3,400 m. From there it is about 5 to 6 hours to hike to the camp at 4,600 m. The next moring the summit can be ascended in about 5 hours. It is approximately a 1 hour descent to camp and an additional 2 hours down to the Jeep.
